  • 2010 – La Crosse County – Client investigated for multiple counts of sexual assault of a child involving accusations made by two different high school age girls
    • Summary of Facts – an adult high school student was accused by two underage high school girls of multiple incidents of forced sexual intercourse. His parents immediately hired Jim Kroner who persuaded the prosecutor to delay filing criminal charges while he conducted an investigation into the allegations and the accusers.
    • Potential Penalty — if charged, each count of the sexual assault alleged would have been punishable by up to 40 years in prison, up to $100,000 in fines, and lifetime registration as a sex offender.

      • After reviewing and confirming the results of the defense investigation, the prosecutor decided not to charge the young man with any offense arising from the allegations of either accuser.
  • 2008 – La Crosse County – Defendant charged with 4 Counts of Sexual Assault of a Child

      • May 13, 2008 – All charges dismissed

  • 2008 – La Crosse County – Defendant charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver approximately 1,000 lbs of marijuana
    • Potential Penalty — 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
    • Result
      • July 15, 2008 – Charge dismissed.
  • 2008 – La Crosse County – Defendant charged with Criminal Damage to Property, Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Refusal to be taken into Custody.
    • Client was accused of driving his mini-van through the front doors of a medical clinic resulting in $355,000 in damages and then barricading himself in a locked room during a stand-off with police.
    • 17 years in prison and up to $45,000 in fines, or both.
    • Result
      • Client pled guilty to Criminal Damage to Property and was on June 23, 2008 sentenced to 3 years of probation with 20 days in jail as a condition of probation (since 20 days had already been served before sentencing, client was free to go home).
